Circle Dancing

Circle Dancing is dancing in groups of five or more people, generally holding hands, and moving in circles. The dances are folk dances from all over the world, which were used to mark rites of passage, ritual, ceremony and gatherings of all sorts.

Many are very old and still danced today in their countries of origin. Some are newly choreographed, to an assortment of music, for the sheer pleasure of dancing. There are steps to learn and movements done in unison. The beneficial effects can include deep, meditative states, building community, laughter, tears and a sense of connection with oneself, others and the divine.

There is a variety of music used, with my particular favourites coming from Eastern Europe, Israel and Russia.

I am available to teach at weddings, birthdays and wherever people need to come together.
